Kobo presents Words: A Fundraising Event
Gingerich Group and Literature for Life in partnership with Kobo are hosting a fundraising event and BBQ at CLounge with special guest K‐OS (Dj Set), in support of the charity’ efforts in the promotion of literacy among young mothers in marginalized communities.
100% of the funds will be donated to Literature for Life and their reading circle programs around the city

UforChange presents Vivacity
UforChange, a St. James Town youth organization, presents Vivacity. This FREE 3-day event that runs from July 29th – July 31st will showcase to the public all the work created by youth in the 16-month arts program. www.uforchange.org
TD Irie Music Festival

The TD IRIE Music Festival is a multi-day, family-friendly festival taking place Friday, July 29th to Monday, August 1st, 2011.
Join the celebration of music — from Reggae to Salsa, Soul to African; dance from the African Diaspora presented in association with dance Immersion, spoken word/literature, visual arts exhibition, movies, delicious tropical food & drinks and more.
The TD IRIE Music Festival is free at two main stages with exciting live performances at Queen’s Park and Yonge-Dundas Square.
The Festival kicks off on Friday July 29th with the inauguration of the IRIE Music Awards, celebrating some of Canada’s best reggae and world music artists. The IRIE Awards ceremony and concert take place at the Phoenix Concert Theatre and is a ticketed event.
The festival continues at Queen’s Park North with three days of world class programming from Saturday July 30th to Monday, August 1st.
You can also catch some of Canada’s most exciting, emerging soul/R&B, artists at IRIE Soul, presented in association with Urban Music Week at Yonge Dundas Square for one day only on Saturday, July 30th
See some classic music films, free, under the stars at Nathan Phillips Square July 30th and 31st and experience the creativity of IRIE Green Art inside the Rotunda at Toronto City Hall from Friday, July 29th to August 1st.

This event showcases the talent of steel pan performers ranging in age from early teens to adults as they perform their original renditions to the aficionados and judges at the Allan Lamport Stadium. Hopefully this year’s winner will be a band from Ontario instead of the triple winning threat of Montreal’s Salah Steelpan Academy which walked away with the prize for three consecutive years.

Traditional Trinidad and Tobago carnival characters come alive! Starting from the Redpath Stage, and accompanied by steel pan, mask-wearing characters will display Ole Mas Placards, stopping to re-enact them to spectators with satirical parody, spoken word, and dance.
