Muhtadi International Drumming Festival

Drummers and musicians come together for Toronto’s annual international drumming festival which will celebrate its 12th anniversary on June 4th and 5th 2011. Toronto will be treated to international drummers representing cultures from Africa, North America, South America, Europe, India, Japan, China, Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada, South Korea, and the Middle East.

Canadian Jazz icon Archie Alleyn, will perform on the second stage, named in his honour and present some of the youth acts including Samba Kidz, Parkview Public School, Alexander Muir Middle School and Frank Oak Secondary Public School.

The 26th Annual African Canadian Achievement Awards ceremony takes place on Saturday, June 4, 2011 from 7:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
The ACAA has been a resounding success for the past ten years and we fully expect to sell out the 500-seat venue this year. We have planned a spectacular evening of tributes, interspersed with performances by award-winning entertainers.

It is also intended to offer sparkling testimonies of hope and inspiration to our youth — courageous examples of achievement and “overcoming” which they can emulate and perpetuate.
