JerkFest 2010
Midday showers could not keep the crowd away from some good food and family fun on Day 2 of the 9th annual JerkFest in Etobicoke. Organizers transformed the base of the Centennial Park ski hills into an old-fashioned county fair setting.
Carnival rides, face painting and funnel cake kept the kids busy while the adults enjoyed the smooth sounds of jazz on the main stage.
Jerk, of course, was the main attraction as nearly one dozen vendors came out to compete for this year’s title. People didn’t mind standing in line for a taste of the GTA’s finest in jerk cuisine.
This year’s winners…
Third Place: Mama’s Jamaican Kitchen
Second Place: Sizzle’s Caribbean Take-out
First Place: Mom’s Jerk
JerkFest is produced by Caribbean Promotions Arts & Culture Inc. – a not-for-profit organization. This year, festival proceeds will go to the Jamaican Canadian Association scholarship fund, as well as the Negril Education Environment Trust, whose goal is to bring books and computers to every school and library in Jamaica.
