JerkFest 2010

9 August 2010 No Comments

Midday showers could not keep the crowd away from some good food and family fun on Day 2 of the 9th annual JerkFest in Etobicoke.  Organizers transformed the base of the Centennial Park ski hills into an old-fashioned county fair setting.

Carnival rides, face painting and funnel cake kept the kids busy while the adults enjoyed the smooth sounds of jazz on the main stage.

Representatives from the Ontario Domino League put together a Jamaican style dominoes tournament.  Mr. Chapman, head of the league, said dominoes are a staple in every Jamaican household.  “Even in the preacher’s house…he has a pack of Dominoes.”

Jerk, of course, was the main attraction as nearly one dozen vendors came out to compete for this year’s title.  People didn’t mind standing in line for a taste of the GTA’s finest in jerk cuisine.
