    Ballet Creole Soulful Messiah

    Soulfully danced to the Quincy Jones’ R&B rendition of Handel’s Messiah, this production will leave you singing “Hallellujah!” throughout the holiday season.  Infused with tap, African-Caribbean dance, ballet, jazz and contemporary dance, this unique celebration of life and music is a holiday festivity to be enjoyed by all ages. Featuring David Cox (former “Stomp” dancer) and the Ballet Creole tour de force dancers.

    A Festival Celebrating Steelpan from the Caribbean
    P.C. Ho Theatre, Chinese Cultural Centre 5183 Sheppard Ave East Scarborough

    The Canadian Federation of Steelpan is proud to announce the 2011 Festival Celebrating Steelpan from the Caribbean. This is a two-day event starting on December 2nd and finishing with the main stage event on December 3rd from 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm at the Chinese Cultural Centre in Scarborough.

    We are excited to embark on this new and important initiative which is sure to draw large numbers of participants and will contribute to the advancement of culture and community in Toronto and the surrounding region.

    Special guests include Rawdon Edwards and the Joy Lapps Trio, direct from Antigua.

    the sankofa trilogy features three extraordinary stories of three powerful women—mugdu sankofa, her daughter sekesu and her granddaughter benu—and their resolute belief in blood and truth. At the heart of this trilogy—and much of d’bi.young’s work—are the spirit of sankofa (“return and get it”), and the mythical sankofa bird of the Ashanti, with its head turned backwards, holding an egg (the future) in its beak.

The gala is a continuation of the hard work and dedication the Aroni Awards has contributed to helping disadvantaged youths in the realization of their goals and dreams by providing scholarships and mentors.
