Aliya-Jasmine Sovani’s beauty tips
Age: 28
Ethnicity: Persian/African-Indian
Skin type: Normal
Aliya-Jasmine Sovani is a vivacious go-getter who is loyal to her beauty brands. Taking care of her gorgeous locks is a regimented science that she has perfected. It’s no wonder those tresses shine and flow in person as they do on MTV. And she’s serious about skincare, too.
Skin Pampering Secrets:
“My skin gets super dry in the winter, and wearing and washing off TV makeup everyday can really dry my skin,” says Sovani. “I love how Dermalogica products add much needed moisture to my skin. My breakouts are so rare since I started using their products! My bathroom actually looks like a Dermalogica store — I swear. Ha!” Sovani’s breakout-free Dermalogica mix consists of the company’s Special Cleansing Gel ($43.50), Daily Micro Exfoliant ($72) and Skin Smoothing Cream ($52). She also puckers up with Solar Shield with SPF15 ($16).
But her face isn’t the only part of her body Sovani pampers. “I spend a lot of time enjoying my shower and a lot of time moisturizing afterwards,” she reveals. “It’s all about moisturizing — especially in the winter!” For the shower, Sovani always stocks up on Aveda’s Smoothing Body Polish ($31) and Calming Cleanser ($20). She then locks in the moisture with Vaseline’s Body Cocoa Butter, which she doubles up as a hand and foot cream.
How else does Sovani cheat winter? “Winter manicures and pedicures are a must,” she says. “Sandals might be out but cute feet are always in! I also like experimenting with darker nail polish in the winter. I’m rocking a deep navy blue right now.” Try Victoria’s Secret Beauty’s nail polish from its Midnight Glamour Collection ($10).
Beating The Winter Hair Blues:
Sovani is an all-the-way Aveda girl when it comes to hair care. “I wash my hair with cool water and blow dry on warm to avoid burning my strands. I finish with a cold blast!” Her favourite products include Aveda’s Brilliant Shampoo ($18.50), Brilliant Conditioner ($32) and Damage Control Conditioner ($24).
For a finishing touch she adds a drop of hair oil — and voila!
