Singer Lauryn Hill told MTV News she is “getting closer” to releasing the much anticipated follow-up to 1998′s The Miseducation…but not much else.

“We’re getting closer. That’s all I can say.”

The eccentric chanteuse has stepped back into the spotlight with a series of performances at this summer’s Rock the Bells tour.  A barrage of celebrity guests and new arrangements for all her classics left many curious about what a new LP might have to offer.

On collaborations, she told MTV.com, “that’s not even something I’ve been thinking about per se. I’m happy that people are still making music. That we still have a platform with which to make music. It’s gonna be interesting to see what the future holds.”

Hill also acknowledged that the industry has changed, but she is up for the challenge. “It’s interesting energy. It’s not what it was, it’s different. That doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a bad thing — it’s a different thing. Just like any new opportunity, it’s ripe for a lot of different things.”

Do you think Lauryn can make a successful comeback in today’s industry?  Will you buy her album? Tell us.
