New York Fashion Week: Tracy Reese and Rachel Roy
On September 14 Tracy Reese showcased her diverse Spring 2011 collection. While some critics argued that it lacked cohesiveness, Reese’s collection had styles that fit right into the closet of any fashionista who adores 70′s style cuts, subdued florals and trips to Africa. Though her collection featured many neutrals, it was accented with pops of jewel tones, gorgeous crocheted pieces, as well as tie dyed and ikat inspired textiles. Free flowing fabrics and floppy hats gave the clothing a bohemian feel, while floor-length evening gowns provided the right amount of glamour. With clothing that accompanies beauty and comfort, this collection is perfect for the professional woman who is constantly on the go.
Rachel Roy
American sportswear designer Rachel Roy proved why her shows never disappoint by beginning her spring 2011 collection with the showing of nine different trench coats- all nude but with sparkles and ruffles for added flare. The runway was filled with electric shots of blues and reds mixed with black, beige and white including graphic knits and sequins. Roy showcased clean-cut shifts and blouses with beautiful draping and interesting folds. She also fused the yuppy look with that of a glamourpuss, seamlessly mirroring her own style; that of a stylish woman who prefers classic pieces that never compromise individuality.
