On Wednesday, July 28, Guyana Fashion Weekend (GFW) will launch in Toronto – a first for the groundbreaking exposition.  The premier launch – to be held at Trane Studio on Bathurst – comes just in time to kick off Caribana weekend.  Featured Guyanese designers include, Marcia De Santos, David Clarke, Michael Kellman, Alana, Binning, Michael De Abraeu, Nitisha Johns, and Carol Fraser.

Sonia Noel, the name behind Mariska’s Designs, serves as CEO of GFW.  Noel began Guyana Fashion Week in 2007 with a mission to revitalize the fashion industry.   GFW seeks to “increase the visibility” of local designers as well as “promote the enormous economic potential” of the Guyanese fashion industry.
