Howard Green — a person with Sway
Occupation
Howard Green is quickly making his mark as a maverick within North America’s billion-dollar movie industry. Having worked as an actor and stuntman on films such as Love Come Down, Exit Wounds and The Incredible Hulk, Green most recently jumped behind the camera, producing the award-winning suspense thriller Machete Joe.
Contribution
Disappointed at the lack of opportunity for black actors within mainstream film and television, Green has worked tirelessly to open the doors of accessibility within the entertainment industry. In 2009, he travelled to Cannes with Toronto consulting firm Film Market Access to connect with international movers and shakers and promote diversity in film.
Inspiration
“I have really been inspired by the late, great Bruce Lee. I studied martial arts and boxing from an early age. One day I was working out at the Lansdowne Boxing Club and they were filming a part of the Friday the 13th series. The director came up to me and asked me if I wanted to be a part of the film. Ever since that time I’ve been hooked.”
