Steve Jobs died yesterday at the age of 56 from pancreatic cancer. He was a legend. A brilliant mind, and as a Mac user myself, I’m extremely grateful for his genius. It’s a shame that someone who made such an incredible contribution to this world had to leave us at such a young age.

Is cancer something that we should be afraid of?

Is this disease something we can avoid?

If we make the commitment to take control of our heath we do not need to be afraid of cancer. Yes, this disease can be avoided.  And yes, there are alternative treatments available.

The first thing you need to know about how to avoid cancer is this: Cancer can not survive in an alkaline environment. What does this actually mean? It means that cancer is not as scary as we like to think it is. Your body needs to remain in balance. If it is out of balance, and remains out of balance, you will get disease.

If you read this column on a regular basis, you may know that my aunt died from cancer several years ago. You may also know that my grandfather died from cancer years before my aunt. What you may not know is that I have a family member, who chooses to remain nameless, who actually got rid of a large tumor that she had.  She is cancer free today, and has remained cancer free for years.

How did she do it? She corrected the ph balance inside her body. If I were to tell you exactly what she did, you wouldn’t believe me because it was so simple. If you want to connect with me one on one about it, feel free to contact me from my blog Simply Natural Ideas.

Just keep this in mind. The food we eat today is almost completely deficient in vitamins and minerals because the soil that it comes from is deficient. We take this deficient food and we cook it. The heat further decreases or completely eradicates whatever vitamins and minerals that were left. The majority of us do not take supplements to replace those vitamins and minerals. And those vitamins and minerals are what help to keep our bodies in balance.

Do you follow what I’m trying to say here? Most of us are walking around with deficiencies and we don’t even know it. Every person’s body is different, so I am not going to tell you in this article what you personally need to take. But please, go get your blood work done. Find out what’s happening inside your body. Use the information your doctor gives you as a baseline to know where to start.

Keep in mind that what your doctor says is one opinion. Although his opinion may be based on years of science, it’s essential that you take the time to form your own opinion. Start listening to your body. Your body will never turn on you. It is designed to protect you and keep you alive. Look for information on foods and minerals like calcium and magnesium which help to alkalize the body. When you find information, come and share it in my wellness group on Facebook. We talk about how to use food and lifestyle to reach our goals in health and wellness, and you’re more than welcome to join us there.

Cancer does not have to be the beast that people make it out to be. In fact, there’s a movie available online right now that is well worth watching. Food Matters is the title of the film, and it’s only available for viewing online until October 8th, so make the time to watch it tonight. It’s time – past time, to take control of your health.

It’s sad that we have such a disconnect with our bodies. I am grateful for all the professional’s that decide to study whatever discipline in medicine and offer that help and info to us – but first we have to start learning to listen to our bodies. We just need to garner the willingness to take the time to educate our selves :)

I do limit alcohol consumption to once or twice a year. I also do self exams on a regular basis. Im going to start the weight loss journey by excercising more. I have been also limiting bra useage to day time only as well.
