It’s official…CTV personality Karlene Nation has announced plans to run in the municipal elections as City Councillor of Ward 19 – Trinity Spadina.  Nation said she will take a two-month leave of absence from on-air duties to pursue what she calls a “passion” — politics.

Nation filed nomination papers last Friday.

The popular diversity producer-reporter said she will run on a platform of “strong fiscal management” of taxpayers’ dollars.  “I want to try to stop the woeful legacy of wasteful spending at the city level,” Nation said in an email.

Toronto can expect to see much more of Nation as she kicks off a media campaign this week.  A website dedicated to her candidacy, karlenenation.com, is expected to go up in the coming days.

“This is an exciting election.  I’m proud that I’m participating in the political process.  With your help – I’ll win a seat at Toronto City Council on Oct. 25th.”
