Sway TV stopped by the Sony Centre for a performance of the hit musical stage play Church Girl.

Led by a star-studded cast, including Robin Givens, Clifton Powell and Demetria McKinney, Angela Barrow-Dunlap’s latest play is the inspirational story of a pastor’s daughter who loses her way in the dark side of the entertainment industry.

Demetria Mckinney, from Tyler Perry’s House of Payne, took on the title role of Emily Franklin. McKinney said she was drawn to the script because she felt it was “telling the story in its entirety.”

“Sometimes [musicals] focus on the gospel part; sometimes they focus on the music, but they don’t always want to go and delve into everything else that “Church Girl” deals with.”
