People Power
With the temperature rising, it's time to put winter behind us and swing into spring!
In this issue of Sway, our cover celebrates the blossoming sound of songstress Keri Hilson, an artist whose edgy attitude and appeal has people calling her the next Mary J.
Our special Health and Sports sections feature Canada's top fitness advocates. We pay our respects to the athletes that have put Canada on the map, including Donovan Bailey and Perdita Felicien, while also taking charge of our own health by getting off the sofa and into the gym with Mr. Caribbean Canada himself, trainer Rohan Francis.
Sportsnet broadcaster Jason Portuando speaks to Sway about mixing it up with North America's most powerful athletes and about life in front of the camera as one of Canada's most recognizable personalities. He also gives us a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the relationships that exist between athletes and the media.
And speaking of relationships, Sway questioned the association between country and race during the first ever Sway Monologues during Black History Month. Check out who dropped by in Sway Was There, a who's who of performers, politicians and partiers.
Away from the stage, we connect with the family of Taylor Lindsay-Noel, a young gymnast whose Olympic ambitions have been devastated through a paralyzing injury. The heartbreaking story of Taylor's accident and the courage with which she has persevered have us admiring her strength and hoping for a miracle.
Once again, we bring together the issues and individuals shaping our community. As always, thanks for your support, and keep on reading.
Stay blessed...
