    Generation Next: The Young Vanguard Series launches January 8

    Featuring some of the hottest up-and-coming 20-something bandleaders in the Toronto jazz community, this 4-part Sunday night jazz series will showcase bandleaders handpicked by series curator and award-winning trumpeter/bandleader Brownman Ali, who is known for often employing the city’s younger generation of
    talent in the multitude of ensembles he leads.

    Original material and impassioned improvising from the next generation of the city’s young visionaries will be showcased each Sunday, hosted by one of the nation’s vanguards for the evolution of jazz in Canada.

    Young artists featured include:

    Sam Dickinson Trio (Jan 8)

    Metcalfe Brothers (Jan 15),

    Paul Morrison Quintet (Jan 22)

    Rob Christian Quartet (Jan 29).

    All shows start at 8 pm, cover is just $5 to enjoy some of the hottest young jazz talent in the city!

    Dance Immersion hosts the 24th Annual International Association of Blacks in Dance Conference with the theme “connecting our diasporas through dance.” The four-day event aims to bring together people from around the world to be educated about issues that are relevant to dance within the global dance ecology.
