Power to the people: Maxine Bailey

24 September 2011 No Comments

Vice president, public affairs
Toronto International Film Festival

Why she’s powerful: Every September, Hollywood North simply becomes Hollywood as the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) turns the city into the centre of the entertainment universe. And Maxine Bailey has played a big role in the festival’s popularity.

As vice president of public affairs, Bailey is responsible for raising 25 per cent of TIFF’s annual revenues. In fact, she was behind the raising of substantial funding for the organization’s new home, the TIFF Bell Lightbox.

Over the past 15 years, Bailey has worked with a number of theatre companies, including Company of Sirens, and Factory and Nightwood theatres. She has also served on the boards of Artscape, Nightswimming and the City of Toronto’s Film Board.
