The more I read about Black History is the more I realize there is so much more to learn. Right now I am reading Succeeding Against the Odds. It's John Johnson's autobiography. He's the man who created and published Ebony Magazine in 1945-- the world's first major Black magazine. The autobiography gives incredible insight into what it took to create a successful multimillion dollar publication that inspired and empowered both Blacks and Whites alike during the Martin Luther King Jr., John F. Kennedy and Josephine Baker era in America. This book makes me appreciate a lot of things more: like Sway magazine and other media which fights to keep people like John Johnson and MLK's spirits alive... (Remember Ebony Fashion Fair... The worlds largest travelling fashion show?!) Any Black book, for any age, can be ordered through Knowledgebookstore.com; one of my favourite stores. Have a blessed BHM! LuvLi Great choices!
