Hip hop star K’naan will take the stage later today at the grand opening festivities for TIFF Bell Lightbox, the Toronto International Film Festival’s new home.

The Juno award winner, who’s been on tour promoting his World Cup 2010 anthem Wavin’ Flag, will be joined by Montreal’s Karkwa, Toronto’s The Sadies and Radio Radio from Canada’s east coast. Toronto’s Fefe Dobson has also been announced as a performer.

Located at King and John streets, the family friendly event is also expected to have a noon hour ribbon cutting ceremony officially celebrating the opening of the new building.

Aside from concerts, the celebration will feature a Wizard of Oz themed kids area complete with free cupcakes, dance performances, and screenings inside the Lightbox itself.
